Special projects
Sometimes a special project requires teams to donate a portion of their common planning or prep time. One common project is the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The single plan consolidates all school plans for programs funded through the School and Library Improvement Block Grant, the Pupil Retention Block Grant, the Consolidated Application, and NCLB Program Improvement into the Single Plan for Student Achievement. Teachers can participate on the team during district in-service days or during regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Contracts usually dictate whether teachers can spend additional time after school to work on special projects, such as WASC accreditation, Schools to Watch™-Taking Center Stage self studies, or Distinguished Schools applications, to name a few.
