Taking Center Stage – Act II

What's New . . .

in Taking Center Stage—Act II (TCSII)

The TCSII Web portal a “hit” with middle grades educators

Since its debut on February 29, 2008, users are flocking to TCSII to learn more about ensuring success and closing the achievement gap for all of California’s middle grades students. Initial quantitative and qualitative analysis shows that the TCSII Web portal has exceeded initial performance expectations.

As of July 1, 2008, the portal has received more than 127,000 Web hits. These figures represent initial visitor hits and do not include subsequent cached visits by the same person thereafter. Google Analytics tracking software indicates that the portal’s reach has surpassed its target group of California educators, attracting visitors from 41 states and 28 countries as far away as China, India, and Bahrain.

Middle grades test materials just a click away

TCSII users can now access additional California Department of Education resources pertinent to the middle grades. Under the “Middle Grades Connections” section of the left navigation bar of the home page, users can now click on four new links (in addition to the link “California Middle Grade-level Standards”). TCSII chapters make their debut in PDF

Would you rather print and read a chapter from start to finish in section order? New versions of the TCSII chapter content are now available in PDF for easy printing and reading.

The left navigation bar of each chapter page now features a “Chapter PDF” button that allows users to print a copy of the entire chapter without all the navigation bars. Alternately, users may continue to print individual content sections pages using the “print” command at the bottom of each section. For example, to open a PDF of Chapter 1, click here and then scroll to the fourth button on the left navigation bar.
