Taking Center Stage – Act II

Nonprofit organizations

An issue brief from Public Education Network outlined how a number of local education funds (LEFs) have been working to improve mathematics and science instruction in public schools. They approach the problem from a variety of angles:

  • Building coalitions of educators, businesses, and community members
  • Establishing networks so teachers learn from and support one another
  • Training subject-matter specialists to coach teachers in a school1
